Moisture Mitigation

We recommended having this to every floor. When
a house is being built, it is required to have a vapor/moisture barrier applied before the concrete slab is
poured. The barrier is best understood as a thick tarp that separates the ground from the concrete. This
will help prevent moisture and vapors from coming from the ground and through the concrete, potentially
causing bubbling issues with the epoxy during its dry window as well as cracking and delamination over a
longer period. However if appropriately done by the original builder/installer, there is no guarantee the
vapor barrier was not damaged. The bubbles can cause divots in and through the epoxy that will be bare
to the concrete. This will also cause sharp edges in the finish. CES will start testing the moisture level by
taping clear plastic on all edges of the substrate. A few days later, we will see what moisture is trapped
inside the tapped areas. If CES feels like the readings are not precise enough, CES may test the substrate's
core drill.
